When asking questions like this with countable nouns, should I use an indefinite article?
What if I have an apple/banana/orange in my hand and offer it to somebody, should I use he definite article THE?
Would you like some shrimp or some shrimps?

Do you want an apple/orange (a banana)?
Do you eat apples/oranges/bananas?
Do you want some shrimp? (plural)
The shrimp is cooked perfectly. (plural or singular)
Generally shrimp (singular) is used to speak of any quantity even if there is one or many.
Shrimp can also be used as an adjective to mean small. Example: Those boys are shrimps compared to those girls. The boys are small; the girls are not small.
