The difference between "the crack/break of dawn" and "dawn"
I was wondering if there is any difference between using these two expressions.

At the crack of dawn, you are looking at a very tiny period of time when you can first detect the beginning of light from the sun for the morning. Dawn is a wider period of time when now or a moment ago or a moment from now are all the same.
