"batch" tends to mean doing multiple things in one go. Such as sending out a lot of paycheques in one operation.
Googling leads to many pages that talk of instructions on how to arrange accounting and payroll software to issue multiple cheques for this sort of thing.

No entry for "host"
Host may be an extenson of the normal English meaning of the word, altough this sort of sense seems rare in finace. That is it may mean the issuing place, organisation or system.
Cheques are rare here now. Little experience.
