Question about use of subjunctive example in Spanish I'm told that in the following sentence, the subjunctive form of "judge" is used: "It bothers me that my friends judge people who don't have money." "Me molesta que mis amigos juzguen a gente que no tiene dinero." Is the subjunctive used because the sentence is a generalization and not an indicative statement of a specific fact?

"Molestar" is a verb that express a feeling, therefore the sentence is a subjective statement, and not objective. Almost as you say, because it´s not a fact, but a personal issue. These verbs are called in Spanish "verbos de sentimiento", verbs that express feelings, and includes "aburrir, alegrarse, apetecer, aprobar, encantar, disgustar, entristecer, gustar, lamentar" and many others.

Hola. Hay verbos que exigen subjuntivo. Y es el caso de los verbos reflexivos que expresan sentimientos: molestar, fastidiar, avergonzar, gustar, alegrar, etc. Ej. Me alegra que vengas. Me molesta que hables alto. Me fastidia que llegues tarde. Me alegró que viniera a la fiesta (en pasado). Espero haberte ayudado. Saludos Gisela
