musty = banal
Hi.
Is this word used in this meaning?
Would the sentence: 'This composer music whose was first considered musty is now a millionaire.' sound natural? Does it even make sense?

Hi Rook,
"Musty" has a different meaning for us in English. It means that something has an unpleasant smell because it is old and has not been exposed to fresh air for a long time. If you are looking for some adjectives that are similar to 'banal', which we don't use in everyday speech, I can recommend the following synonyms for this context: commonplace, ordinary, unexceptional, humdrum, uninspiring
I would adjust the sentence slightly to something like this:
'This composer's music which was at first considered uninspiring is now a millionaire.'
I can recommend a great website for finding synonyms, Reverso Synonyms which I use all the time: https://synonyms.reverso.net/synonym/en/banal
I hope this is helpful.
