The use of 'ask of' 'He asked a question of me.' Does it mean a question about me? Does 'of me' describe 'question'? Can 'about' instead of 'of' in this sentence? or Does this sentence equal 'He asked me a question'? It is quite different from a question about me, right? Thank you very much!

It is more like " He asked me a question." It is not the same as "He asked a question about me."
