What's the difference between "不行”and "不能"? I prefer the answer written in English. Thank you all for answering my question. @ Christina & Katie - I'm really appreciate having explanations written in Pinyin.

不行 is like - no you cant / no I cant 不能 - I cannot / unable to do that

hello there~ "不能" means "can not","mustn't","shouldn't","unable". for example: (1) You can't do that. 你不能那样做。 ni bu neng na yang zuo. 【It's that "不能做 bu neng zuo" NOT "不行做 bu xing zuo"!!!!!!!!!! 】 (2) Student mustn't eat in class. 学生禁止/不能在课堂上吃东西 xue sheng jin zhi/bu neng zai ke tang shang chi dong xi. (3) Unable to create file to upload. 无法/不能创建要上传的文件。 wu fa/bu neng chuang jian yao shang chuan de wen jian. "不行" (1) "won't do" Tomorrow won't do, i'm afraid. 明天恐怕不行。 ming tian kong pa bu xing. (2) "not work" In addition to not work! 除此之外不行。 chu ci zhi wai bu xing. (3) "be no good" If be no good, how should do? 如果不行,该怎么做? ru guo bu xing,gai zen me zuo? (4) "no","not" No,you must go on. 不行,你必须坚持下去。 bu xing,ni bi xu jian chi xia qu. Not tonight,maybe tomorrow. 今晚不行,也许明天吧。 jin wan bu xing,ye xu ming tian ba. (5) "can not" If you don't think you can do it,then other people won't either. 如果你自己都认为自己不行,那其他人当然也认为你不行。 ru guo ni zi ji dou ren wei zi ji bu xing,na qi ta ren dang ran ye ren wei ni bu xing. 不行的语气会比较柔和,而不能的语气相对来说会比较强硬。带有种命令的口气。例如:这件事你不能擅自去做,而当要改成用“不行”来说的话就是:你擅自做这件事是不行的。
