In India, A fresh loaf of bread costs around 40 cents.

In Italy, a loaf of about 1 kg of bread averages at about $1.3 - $2.5

In Costa Rica, a decent loaf of wheat bread will be about $1.75. Normal white bread, $1.15. In the States I'd spend up to $4 for an excellent, heavy bread.
