The exact opposite. :) Of = from = away. However 的 = possesses. My friend: 我的朋友 ... it can also mean "friend of me", but "of" alone is 从. Also, unlike 的, "of" is still two separate characters. PS. "anenst"?? Yes it's an English word, but very obscure. If I used it, no-one would understand me.
