As they said above, VIP = "very important person", plus maybe one more usual meaning: There is a much softer meaning, that VIP is just a person a step above.

Sometimes you come across "VIP lounge" or similar. Difficult to tell whether it is only for diplomats, or actually just costs $5 more than the other area & may be less crowded or have better chairs.

The "VIP lounge" or "VIP area" is frequently an area that costs money, or costs more money to enter.
Similarly VIP membership of a free website might mean that you payed for some extra right or feature. That is a grade of membership.
The VIP area in the casino might have a higher minimum stake & you may have to be invited rather than just show up.
In these ways "Very Important" does not always mean "very", just a privilege, usually paid for.
