Nothing, except that you're far more likely to hear "spicy". "Piquant" is more derivative from continental Europe (cognates in quite a few languages... French, Greek, Italian, German...) and has more upper-class implications. So you'd never use "piquant" to describe food in a cheap takeaway, but you would use it in an expensive restaurant.
