"I want to eat food".. In japanese it is not comman to use "food" to express that you want to eat something; however, there are some useful expressions. I want to eat something - 何か食べたい。 Nanika tabetai I am hungry. - お腹すいた 、 お腹がすいた onaka suita 、 onakaga suita I want to eat meal. - 食事がしたい shokuji ga shitai

O-naka suita. O-naka suichatta. Male can say "hara hetta". :)))

The word "food" is surely superfluous. You can just say: 食べたい (tabetai = I want to eat)
