Hello Nora22,
** The following are some constructive methods to apply in order to memorize the English vocabulary:
- Review the new words you have learned few days later. Repeat reviewing them again and again or you will risk forgetting them.
- Find a native speaker to talk with .During your conversations you are likely to encounter some words you have learned recently. This is one of the practical methods to repeat the vocabulary and thus memorize it.
- Visit a place where the language is spoken. Vocabulary won't truly stick until you're forced to speak the language a lot. Whether the place is a local institute or a foreign country ,both will provide the opportunity to utilize the language ,so that you revise your acquired vocabulary and add up to it .
- Be there where you can truly apply the new vocabulary. If you have just finished learning a list of words related to cookery or food in general, go to restaurants, read the menus and practically apply some of the words you have already learned.
The direct factual review of your acquired vocabulary helps a lot in memorizing them. The vivid experience of applying the new words increases the possibility of not forgetting them.
- You could also use some mnemonic systems for memorizing the foreign English words. It doesn't work for everyone ,but you could develop your own techniques, that helps you as an individual easily remember the words.
Check some techniques here:

- Find associations between words. It not only reinforces knowledge of definitions, but also sharpens students’ understanding of connotations and contexts in which vocabulary is used. Here you can not only learn the word as a separate term but how to use it in a context.
Remember it is a process and it takes time and effort!
Always find interesting and challenging ways to practice and you will sense a gradual improvement.
Good luck :)

Surf the INTERNET using an English web search engine ( http://google.com ). Look for topics written in English with the search engine and then read them. Plenty of what you find on the web is written in plain English... Reading these websites will be good practice for you.
Good news sites are the BBC, CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN, and the weather channel.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/ is a news site geared at younger people (teenagers and younger) but the vocabulary is good and can help students of English.

Flash cards - post it notes around your room - most newspapers are advanced or use a lot of expressions / catchy phrases... best thing is to make a list of 10 words for the week and repeat them as much as possible in speaking, writing and listening. You can record yourself. Contact someone 3x a week and give them your list. Have them quiz you. Word association is also good -- like "hotdog" (imagine a dog sweating and he's hungry for dinner!). Good luck.
