A home may be a house, but a house isn't always a home A house is a structure as the other poster put it, but a home is the people who live in the house and make it a safe and pleasant place to be. You can live in a beautiful home, but if you have no one to love and share it with, then it's just a plain house no matter how fancy it is. A home can be anywhere you live - your home may be a mobile home, or a motor home, or an igloo. But a house is a physical structure with walls and a roof and a door.

A home is a place you love, where you feel you belong and where you feel happy to be there. A house is a building which accomodates you-It is just a building and you do not neccesarilly care about it. It takes a lot of living in a house to turn it into a home.

In the general sense, a house can be a home but a home might not necessarily be a house. Eg. "I'm home." as opposed to "I'm in my house."
