Hi Jocelyn, it's a good idea to introduce your self first. If you are on the phone you can say, " Good morning. Can you help me? My name is Dr Jocelyn from XXX University. Whom am I speaking to?"
In a social situation, introduce yourself and what you do, then the other person should tell you . Example: "Hello, I'm Jocelyn. I'm the marketing manager for XXXX company"
