How do you know which reading to use: "kunyomi" or "onyomi" when reading Kanji outloud? Just memorize them? I know kunyomi is the Japanese reading and it's usually used when a Kanji is read alone and onyomi is the Chinese reading that's used when a Kanji is with another one (compounds). Is that the only clue? Do you just have to memorize each reading?

Mmmm...that's a difficult question to answer since we involuntarily read them. Your understanding is right, and I think more than 90% of words can be read correctly with that. Concerning a small number of exceptions....work hard & good luck (A^_^;) P.S. "DURARARA!!" is a lot of fun^^ I'm fond of it, too.
