Cowboy is correct. Here are some other examples.
expunge= to remove something completely, especially from a written record .
Example: The policeman said that he would expunge the incorrect speeding fine from the driver's records.
expurgate= to remove from a book or text
Example: Some sections of the novel Lady Chatterly's Lover were expurgated from DH Lawrence's manuscript.
If you write something that your editors don't like it may be expurgated from the transcript.

Expunge means to remove by erasing or crossing out or as if by drawing a line while Expurgate meansto edit by omitting or modifying parts considered indelicat.
