'Envy' is a verb or a noun and' jealous' is an adjective. The noun of 'jealous' is 'jealousy'. Envy and jealousy are often used synonymously but they do have different meanings. Envy is the desire for something that somebody else has or a feeling of ill will over another person's advantages in general. 'Jealousy' is a resentful suspicion that somebody else has or is going to take what rightful belongs to the jealous person. 'Jealousy' can be the result of 'envy'.
