Modern Japanese people often say they do not believe in any particular religion.
Yet, beliefs in things like fate, spirits, ki (energy), and en (connections) are still strong.
This way of thinking is often described as “Spiritual but not Religious.”
In other words, although many do not follow strict religious doctrines, they still value invisible things through customs, emotions, and culture.
