How do I know when to use “đó” or “Kia” in Vietnamese to say : that? Example: Đó lá của tôi , or Kia lá của tôi? The same for “Đây and này” Example: Đây là con cá or Con cá là này?

Đó and Kia are almost the same to me. “Cái đó là của tôi/ Cái kia là của tôi” sound more natural than “đó là của tôi/ kia là của tôi”.

"Đó" and "Kia" can represent for many many things in Vietnamese, It may be a person, a thing, a place, a time... (Yes it is just like "that" in El) People : Đó là ai? Kia là ai ? If you ask about 2 people , You should use "Đó" before you use "Kia" EX: Đó là ai? Còn "người" kia là ai? A thing: Đó là gì? Kia là gì - Đó là gì? Còn kia là gì? A Place: Đó là đâu vậy? A Time: Đó là ngày nào? Ngày kia là thứ mấy? Ngày hôm nay (Today), ngày mai (Tomorow), và ngày "kia" (The next day) có mưa không?
