When do we use "tend to be" and "tend to have" in a sentence and what are their meanings?

For "tend to be" we might say "children tend to be like their parents" or "British people tend to be sarcastic." For "tend to have" we might say "we tend to have lunch in the car" or "I tend to cry in the car before work". It's when something or someone usually acts in a particular way. Hope that helps :)
