It was a beautiful sunny day today. Guess what? This is the first time I noticed the cicadas chirping all year! After school, I was walking out of the garage when Mom tapped on my shoulder and was like, "Can you hear that?"
Suddenly, I was hit by a wave of loud cicada noise, overwhelming – it seemed like they were all chirping right next to me! I was astonished by how my brain works. Before Mom pointed it out, I hadn't noticed this huge racket at all. Somehow, my brain had tuned it out like background noise, and ignored it as if it wasn’t there. Isn't that fascinating?
