In my experience, low prices are key to getting experience (reviews/statistics) on your profile, and experience on your profile is key to being able to get new students as well as set higher prices. Participation in the community has not been a helpful advertising tool as a teacher in my experience since most people who use the community are not looking to spend money on lessons.

Hello! Your profile seems interesting and it is a significant advantage that you are so fluent in English. I would suggest that you describe the type of lessons better (at least for me it is not completely clear). Otherwise, the profile is good and the prices as well. As a person studying Italian, I would have booked a lesson based on your profile if I haven't already found a teacher who suits me (also the reason why I only comment "thank you" in the community when some teachers correct me). Hi, to me your profle is a bit confusing. I don't speak italian and my english isn't great, so maybe I misunderstood things. Also I'm a student with not much experience here on italki. You offer 3 types of lessons, and by reading their titles it's not clear to me what they include. 1) "Roman for beginners" and "Italian fo dummies": - What's the difference? - Is Roman the same as Italian? I may be ignorant, but "Roman" could just as well be a local dialect of, well, Rome... If it's the same, why make it complicated? - Both are targeting beginners (A1-A2), but in the first one you wrote "You think you're ready to dive into it a little bit more? Switching to Italian while cruising through this very paragraph shouldn't be a problem for you then!", so are you implying that I already need to understand basic italian? Why level A1 then? Why don't you have a translation of the italian part? Do I need to use a translation app if I want to find out whether this lesson is for me or not? Because you are not really saying a lot about the content of the lesson. Will I learn italian from scratch? Do I already need to know the basics? Do you teach me basics like the alphabet, pronunciation, and basic stuff like that? 2) "Italian for lovers": sounds to me like you'd teach vocabularies about love/romance/dating or sth. like that. So: - I'd keep in mind that the potential student that is reading/watching your profile doesn't understand any italian yet! Personally I like it when a teacher simply writes the description in english and then the same text again in the target language. So like what you did on your "About me", but maybe do that also in the lesson descriptions... - choose better names for your lessons. If one is "conversational practice for beginners" and the other one "learn italian from scratch", name it like that (maybe in proper english, but you get the idea ;-) ) just my opinion, maybe it helps ;)

Ciao Matteo, Unfortunately, I have already found an English teacher here on Italki, so I'm not looking for anyone new right now. I hope you will not take my remarks as criticism, but as a way of trying to help you solve your frustrating situation: 1. Choose your screen name wisely: If your screen name is Tyler and you present yourself as Matteo, most potential students will be confused or wary and move on. Obviously, your first language is Italian, which is beautiful and much less common than English, so use your real first name as your screen name. 2. You offer lessons in "Italian for dummies", "Italian for Lovers" and "Roman for beginners". Why??? Offer Italian for beginners, intermediate and advanced learners. We might be dummies, but don't tell us! And if you offer "Roman", some will expect Romanian, others Latin and others again some weird dialect nobody outside of Rome understands. Creativity can go wrong, I'm afraid. 3. When I watched your video I noticed that your English is good, but your pronunciation betrays an Italian accent - as you offer only Italian lessons, why not make your presentation as authentic as possible (i.e. Italian, maybe with subtitles or second version in English?). I also noticed that your video is rather dark - authentic lighting for a Scottish pub, but make your studio a friendly classroom: good lighting, minimal sound issues. Maybe you can use a headset? It makes a world of a difference. I agree with others that offering advice in the forum offers little chance of success, and your lessons are already priced more than reasonably. Don't sell yourself too cheaply, but maybe you can offer cheap trial lessons and regular lessons at prices that don't hurt YOU or the students? There is a huge amount of new Italian teachers right now. It must be hard for all of them to get students. If it makes any difference, I don't agree with what some people here say. I like your video. And it's absolutely not true that only attractive young women get students. One thing you might want to think about is your name. Lots of students prefer native speaker teachers and Tyler Bence doesn't sound very Italian. I study Italian, but I already have some teachers and my schedule is pretty full right now. Otherwise I might have booked a lesson with you. I might in a few weeks :)
