Merchandises are goods that you buy/sell at stores, commodity is the raw material of the Merchandises like copper, iron, ...etc

A commodity, to me, is something valuable that you acquire. Example sentences:
"water is a precious commodity"
"We need more flexibility in the system, as time with patients is a valuable commodity."
"Experience, considered a priceless commodity in life, can also be a useful ally in football."
Merchandise (uncountable) is something you might find at a music concert or amusement park, like a souvenir:
"shops which offered an astonishing range of merchandise"
"the official merchandise for the film"
"I didn't feel the previous merchandise really reflected the character of the club."

Commodity to be precise is a raw material that can be purchased or sold. Like in agriculture field .
Whereas merchandise means the products formed only to be sold . Like buiscuit or tshirts ... If you open a buisness of sale purchase of finished goods.
To be really short and to the point
Commodity : raw material
Merchandise : finished goods.
