The correct version is “I wish [that] I had been there.” Some native speakers add “would” for hypothetical type-2 and type-3 condition clauses and for “wish” structures. Hi Anna, Do people use it? yes. Is it grammatically correct? not really. Pluperfect would be : I wish I had been there. I think often people use what you wrote when they mean : I wish I could have been there. Which implies you ‘ regret’ or pain and the wish you could have done it/ could have been there. I would avoid using : i wish would have been there , if you are learning English. However , you will hear people saying it.

It is a little awkward but technically correct. Better to say I wish that I had been there
