Wie kann man Deutsch lernen?

This question is for people who are at least at a basic or intermediete level of German (being there second language). How have you gotten so far? What exactly do you use to study and what keeps you motivated? I am still a beginner but have learned quite a bit from a German software program, but now I feel that these lessons are too boring and are not helping me improve at a good rate. I know there are other methods of learning but want someones personal experience with what works for them. Danke!

Can someone tell me about German cuisine?

I would love for a native of Germany to tell me the specialities of German food. I feel that everything I find online is very Americanised. I know about beer, pretzels, and currywurst but I want to know more so your input is very appreciated. If you have links to good articles on the web or books that is also very helpful. Don't be afraid to go into detail, I am very interested. What foods should I look for when I take a trip to Germany that locals eat?

Share your aspirations of this year and what you truly plan on doing to improve.

 

I took a long break at the end of the year but now I am determined again to study German at least 15 hours a week as consistently as I can. I do lessons for an hour or two at home then I go to work and listen to audio and comprehension. My goal is to reach a B1 or B2 (Intermediete) by the end of the year. Do you think this is a realistic goal? What are your goals?

One City in America

If you could live in one city in America which one would it be and why?

 

For myself I am moving to Portland, OR which I love, mainly for culinary school, but I would love to end up back down south preferabbly in New Orleans. My reasons are that my great grandfather was Cajun and from Louisanna and that is the direction I want to take my career. I feel that they have some of the thickest culture in the country and some of the best cuisine. I think it would be an awesome experience.

Who needs to get there language learning frusterations out!

Today I am stressed. I have been studying at least a couple hours a day and have been making a lot of progress but for some reason today I wanted to punch my notes in frusteration. German grammar can be such a jerk sometimes, lol. However, I will not give up. Tomorrow I will get up and try again.

 

If anyone wants to vent about their studies go right ahead.
