Most of us know from experience that weather can shift from a perfectly sunny day to a raging storm in a matter of hours. This uncertainty is one of the key features of the Hungarian climate. Thus, being able to understand local weather reports could be of use to anyone thinking of spending some time in Hungary.
Поздрав!
I'd like to ask the good people of the Balkans (or whoever else has thoughts or experience in the matter) if anyone can suggest quality, free (?) language material. I am familiar with the Teach Yourself book series, however I find the lack of examples / exercises in that book. (However I do understand the series was built to serve a "traveling" purpose so writing - and for the students carrying - a 4*852 page academic lexicon-type "concrete blocks" were not optional).
the United States' FSI made public a very in-depth and drill-rich material, which was used to train US diplomats working in the former Yugoslavia. However it was written in 1965, and well - the language I grew up with (Hungarian) did not change a lot in this period, and after checking the material issued to serve as a Hungarian textbook, i couldn't find anything I'd say in a completely different way. After sending this to a Serbian friend o' mine told me her response was "you better not to touch that". (Reasons were not explained why.)
I am also familiar with the stuff I can find on easy-croatian.com, but again, that site only has a few pre-built exercises.
So... does anyone have any ideas or suggestion?
Thanks in advance,
Tom
