Anna

My Ukrainian teacher Anna is such a juwel. Although I am always rather exhausted afterwards - the lessons with Anna just make me happy. She is such an encouraging, friendly and very professional teacher. I do highly recommend her!

I had the privilege of worked with Anna 3x/week for a little over a month, and I can tell you that that was the best money I ever spent. Anna is exceptional. The quantity of resources in her possession is unheard of, and she uses them to make sure that her students get the best possible experiences during their Russian learning. She has cool multimedia-based lessons and homework assignments, as well. She gives homework if you want homework, and she grades it promptly with clear explanations for mistakes. She also makes it a point to have students talk in the target language as much as possible, but her English is very fluent, so if you a need to switch to English, she can do so easily, though she works to get back to Russian as soon as possible. I would recommend Anna to anyone. I would even recommend her over the majority of in-person instructors. She makes the technology work for her students in a way that in-person instruction never could.

Today we studied the history of Kyiv in Ukrainian! We read a text together and worked through the new vocabulary and some grammar points, and Anna provided some pictures and also deeper explanations on the history and language. She has provided flashcards for learning the new vocabulary and some games to help me to practice, and my homework is to use this to write about the history of my home city. It was a really enjoyable session, and I'm looking forward to learning more about the history, geography and culture of Ukraine. Дуже дякую Анно! До зустрічі!

Since beginning lessons with Anna, I have made tremendous progress in learning Ukrainian. Like many English speakers, my knowledge of grammar is weak, but to understand how to use cases in Ukrainian, sometimes you really need to understand the parts of a sentence. Anna is great at teaching this. She is also very responsive to requests. I asked her if we could spend one lesson a week on reading, and she has been super-helpful with that. She even put a huge amount of effort into creating an online reading course built around the classic story "The Little Prince", which I wanted to read. I am so happy I found Anna here on iTalki. She is a gem.

Today we reviewed my homework from the last class, which was to write about the history of a city of my choice, using Anna's story about the history of Kyiv as a guide. Then we talked about some of the sights around Kyiv. I read aloud some stories about the key sights that Anna had prepared, and then she made sure that I understood the key vocabulary. Then we went off to look at the streetviews as Anna explained some of the architecture and the history. It was another really great lesson, and I'm really enjoying learning about Ukraine in Ukrainian! Дякую Анно! До зустрічі!

Today we finished Anna's Просто Цікаво course! It has been a great introduction to Ukrainian and I've really enjoyed using Anna's materials in the lessons and for reviews too. I've had lots of practice at reading, listening, speaking and writing, and we've touched on lots of different topics and grammar points. I definitely want to continue learning Ukrainian together, and we'll start looking at Anna's lessons on places in Ukraine next week. Looking forward to it! Дуже дякую Анно! До зустрічі!
