To anyone looking for a fun and easygoing way to learn Japanese. I recommend Shoya. He has a really relaxed style and it feels like you are just chatting with a friend. He brings a comfortable vibe to each lesson, and give gentle corrections when I make mistakes and even goes above and offers a more casual way to say things. I never feel bad when I make a mistake. One of the best parts learning with him is he will keep you up-to-date with the latest slang, casual expressions or what is trending in Japan. If youre looking for a teacher that is chil, supportive and genuinely enjoyable to chat with, I recommend Shoya.

I always enjoy my lessons with Shoya! He's super easy to talk to and he's great at keeping the conversation flowing. Our conversations are always fun and interesting. He's able to explain things very well and give examples when I need help. He's also very encouraging and gives good advice. I definitely feel more confident in my speaking after our lessons. Highly recommend!

I feel like I speak Japanese slowly, even now. This lesson made me realise that I don't speak Japanese enough everday. To practise, I plan to speak Japanese out loud or in audio recordings from now on. Hopefully I will have more confidence to be able to speak Japanese with you in the near future. I have been taking lesson with Shoya for more than 1 year. Originally, I wanted to find someone who could help me improve my Japanese conversational ability, plus go beyond casual topics, and be able to talk about more higher-level topics that any adult with a university degree should be able to discuss at a non-discern level. Through conversation with Shoya, he has helped me gain confidence in my own conversational ability, as well as be able to hold a conversation with a native speaker. Though I know that I still have a long way to go, but I can't help but thanks Shoya enough for his patience to sit through listening to my sometimes incomprehensible Japanese, but as well as the diligence to keep me on my toes with new words, vocabularies, and phrases that are highly useful. I highly recommend Shoya to any Japanese language learners who wishes to improve on their conversational ability with a native speaker.

Shouya is always amazing, and he's such a high quality teacher! Every lesson he's very patient, and he always enjoys speaking about a variety of topics. Even if I forget a word a few times, he never minds and helps me practice with it and use it. Highly recommended!
