I had lots of fun during my lesson! Teppei-Sensei made me excited to continue practicing and achieve my dream of talking to locals on my first trip to Japan. He’s able to adjust the casualness of the Japanese he teaches based on how well I already know Japanese people (not at all). I really appreciate that. Can’t wait for more lessons!

Teppei is a tremendous tutor and somebody who is comfortable with any level that you are at. He excels in making sure he feels like your teacher and a good friend. The hardest part of speaking a language you’re learning is to be comfortable making mistakes, but he encourages you do to so, just so you can practice the muscle memory of speaking what you’re learning. As soon as the lesson was over, it felt like it had just started and I already can’t wait to schedule my next one. If you want to practice any form of a conversation or even just small grammar points, his explanations and tips come across as very thorough and caring.

This dude is seriously chill, comfy, and fun. Also supportive and patient. A great low-stakes feeling to relax you and prevent brain-freeze stress. Highly recommend.

My lessons with Teppei have been great! The conversations are always enjoyable as he takes a keen interest in all sorts of things and he gives you the space to try and express yourself in Japanese as you're learning. Teppei is great at correcting errors, doing so without judgement, and without intervening too often to derail a conversation, I've learn a lot of useful phrases and words during my lessons. His English level is very high so 99% of the time he can give you a translation off the bat if you're searching for a word you don't know. More importantly the lessons are very enjoyable and a great way to practice speaking, would highly recommend!

Okay, it's been 25 lessons with Teppei, so I figured it was time to write an updated review. I can't recommend him enough! He's very skilled at finding topics that make you feel like you're having a real conversation with a friend rather than just practicing. During your conversations, he introduces you to words that open up new avenues of discussion. He's very good at finding your limits and then introducing you to the next thing that will help you express yourself in future conversations. His English is perfect, so if you want English explanations of grammar points or vocabulary, he's great at that too. I try to stay in Japanese as much as possible during my lessons, but it's nice to have the option of a full explanation in English every once in a while. Personality-wise, he's funny and fun to talk to. Highly recommended!

I'm so happy I gave classes with Teppei a go. It's a relaxed, safe space where the conversation just flows and you learn or practise new vocabulary and grammar as needed, almost without realising it. Teppei is very skilled at clocking your level and interests, and knowing when to give you space to think and when to help you out with little clues. I'm having so much fun yet I still come away thinking, "That was so useful". Can't wait for the next one!
