Hi! I’m Helena, a certified teacher from the Czech Republic. As someone who learned English later in life, I understand the challenges—and joys—of mastering a new language. My focus? I am a qualified teacher with a Master’s degree, originally certified to teach Mathematics and Biology at high school level. I also have many years of teaching experience at primary school level, where I gradually focused on teaching English.
I hold a state language examination in English and formal training in English language teaching methodology. I started learning English later in life and I am still learning today, which helps me understand the challenges of language learning very well. This experience shows me that real understanding and confidence in a foreign language are possible at any age, and I enjoy helping my students achieve the same confidence in Czech. My lessons are adapted to each student’s needs and goals.
We focus mainly on speaking and real communication, while also working on accuracy and understanding when needed.
I work with adult learners as well as children, and I have experience teaching children of foreign families online.
Lessons are friendly and calm, but purposeful — my goal is to help students gain confidence and use Czech naturally in everyday situations.

In preparation for a trip to Prague, I worked with Helena to learn some Czech. She was an excellent instructor. Helena was thoroughly prepared for each lesson and guided me through the language with enthusiasm, warmth, and patience. She left me with homework which really helped me learn quite a number of phrases and words in a short period of time.
I really had a lot of fun learning Czech. She also provided information regarding Czech culture and made the lessons relevant to our upcoming trip. I highly recommend her.
