🌸Hello, I’m Misao!
I’m from Tokyo and now living in Hokkaido (Hokkaido is the northernmost region of Japan, famous for its snow⛄️⛷🏂).
I’m a government-licensed Japanese teacher 🇯🇵 with a background in business, university, local government, radio🎤, and farming 🌱🐓🥚.
While living abroad for about 4 years, I started teaching Japanese to friends.
After becoming certified, I’ve taught over 450 lessons on italki and other platforms, working with learners from beginner to advanced levels.
I’m passionate about skiing ⛷️ and love Ghibli movies 🎬 and Fujii Kaze’s music 🎶.

The first lesson was excellent! It was a good mix of reviewing what I know and what I would like to learn and setting goals based around that. Misao was friendly and used real life examples of hiragana, katakana, and kanji. We also used music to help study. I recommend her class :)

Today we worked on talking about family. I really appreciate how conversation focused our lessons with Marugoto are compared to other popular Japanese textbooks. I already feel a lot more comfortable listening to Japanese. Misao-san also gave me some tips for my hiragana handwriting which I appreciated!
