Hello and welcome!
I’m Maaike, a 36-year-old from Belgium. I hold a Master’s degree in Criminology and spent three years working at an NGO. However, my adventurous spirit led me to travel with my partner, and we lived in Australia for a few years.
It was there that I discovered my love for teaching English. I found it incredibly fulfilling to help people who were struggling with the language in my spare time.
After taking a break to explore the beautiful landscapes of Indonesia, Vietnam, and Thailand, we returned to Europe. I noticed a growing interest in learning Flemish, so I decided to apply what I had learned from teaching English and expanded my focus to include Flemish as well.Ik als leerkracht
° All ages and levels are welcome. I aim to provide a friendly, supportive, and understanding environment for all students, including those who are neurodiverse. I love connecting with people of all backgrounds, and I look forward to hearing your story!
° Mistakes are seen as opportunities for growth and learning.

Maaike est très patiente et disponible, elle veille toujours à ce que je m'exprime au maximum et me donne ensuite un feedback sur mes éventuelles erreurs. J'apprécie beaucoup discuter avec elle car elle comprend ce dont j'ai besoin pour évoluer dans ma maîtrise du néerlandais, et mes progrès sont visibles.

It was my first time trying an online lesson, so I was a bit nervous, but Maaike was very bright and patient during the lesson. The structure was clear as well, so I enjoyed the class. I also appreciate her attention to the details of my pronunciation, which must help improve my speaking.
