Hi everyone! I am multilingual (Japanese, Portuguese, and Spanish speaking) and have always loved learning and teaching foreign languages. I have taught lessons to adults of all levels and nationalities for over 20 years, teaching overseas as well as in Australia at various English language schools. I have a TESOL Postgraduate Certificate (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages), a LOTE Spanish Language Teaching Certificate (Languages Other Than English) and a Bachelor of Arts / Languages (Japanese and Spanish). I also have a passion for traveling and love meeting new people from other cultures! In my free time I enjoy yoga, movies, going to the beach and exploring nature.Ik als leerkracht
After graduating from university I taught English in Japan for one year, as well as in Spain and Brazil.
Since I've studied foreign languages and taught students from all over the world, I truly understand the challenges students face as I have been in your situation as a language learner myself! I am very friendly, calm and patient as a teacher. Learning and teaching languages is my biggest passion and I love helping my students achieve their English learning goals whether you need English for travel purposes, for work, or to be able to connect with friends or family from other parts of the world. My lessons are fun and conversational. Our main goal is to build your confidence so that you can communicate more comfortably in any situation. Using a variety of teaching methods I can teach all skills including speaking, pronunciation, grammar, listening, reading, writing and vocabulary. I believe it's important to also include natural everyday expressions in our lessons such as idioms or phrasal verbs to help you speak English in the most natural way possible! I enjoy discovering your interests and I then provide engaging lessons focused on communication, including a variety of topics and skills depending on your own individual needs and goals. In this lesson, we talked about how people spend time on cruise ships, how everyone spent their time during COVID-19, and also about allergies. I really enjoyed the lesson because I felt relaxed speaking with Fiona. She is a friendly and approachable teacher, and at the same time, she always provide useful expressions and explanations. Thank you!

We started with some casual conversation about everyday topics, and then moved on to answering questions from a list that Fiona had prepared. The conversation flowed really naturally, and I felt comfortable as it was guided in such a smooth way. She also provided feedback on my English during the chat and introduced some useful phrasal verbs. It was a great practice session!
