My name is Caterina, I teach Italian literature and History in high school. I studied Latin, Greek, and Classical Armenian — but I also love roasting vegetables, walking in nature, and watching slightly tragic queer films. I'm passionate about literature, especially by women writers, and on slow days you'll find me crocheting with a cup of herbal tea. I was born in Genoa, lived in Bologna, and now I'm based in Abruzzo. I also teach abroad whenever I can.
I believe the best way to learn a language is through conversation — in a space where you don’t feel judged, but free to make mistakes and learn at your own pace, in your own way.Ik als leerkracht
I'm a patient, creative, and very curious teacher. I love listening to people and finding the right way to help them feel comfortable with the Italian language. I’ve taught in many different contexts — in schools, and also in associations supporting migrants — and I easily adapt to my students’ learning styles.
If you’re looking for a welcoming teacher who will encourage you to speak without fear (and with a touch of irony), I might be the right one for you. My lessons are light, but never superficial!

I believe languages are, first and foremost, tools for communication — that’s why my lessons focus on real, living Italian, with lots of conversation, practical examples, and real-life contexts.
We can read texts, listen to dialogues, play with grammar, and talk about literature, food, travel, politics — or whatever you're passionate about. My lessons are tailored to you: whether you’re starting from scratch, looking to improve your level, preparing for an exam, or learning Italian for work or study, we’ll find the right path together.

Caterina is extremelly patient with my very low level haha. She always makes sure to adjust to my needs, explains things well, provides with materials and finds useful conversation topics. She’s kind and friendly which makes the lessons a relaxed environment where it’s okay to make mistakes. She does a wonderful job at speaking to me in italian even though I can’t quite respond properly in italian yet, and she doesn’t mind repeating and explaining things or slowing down when I don’t understand them.

I have taken a few grammar lessons with Caterina and they were immensely helpful to me. She is always very well prepared with tasks suitable to my level and sends the task sheets as well as additional information after each lesson (e.g. an overview on how and when to use the condizionale). She is very patient and understanding and doesn't mind explaining and rephrasing things in order for me to truly understand them. Additionally, she is very friendly and attentive and it is a joy to have lessons with her. I would strongly encourage you to schedule a lesson with her.

Another wonderful lesson! Caterina is a really great conversationalist - there's a nice flow in our lessons, and she's really good at encouraging me and making gentle corrections when I make a grammar or vocabulary mistake. The time always goes by very quickly!
