Hi! I'm Knives, a friendly native English speaker from Hawaii 🌺
I'm currently planning an exciting move to Japan to study the language and culture. I'm a language learner too, so I totally get the challenges (and fun!) of picking up new skills.
I love chatting about travel, ancient history, cultures, science, fitness, and whatever interests you! Teaching English online lets me connect with people from all over the world while keeping things relaxed and enjoyable.
Whether you're a beginner who's nervous about speaking or more advanced and wanting to sound natural and confident, I'm here to help you every step. I have a strong vocabulary and I'm especially good at helping with pronunciation, fluency, vocabulary expansion (moving beyond the same words all the time), as well as preparing you for a job interview or resume writing!
As a teacher, I'm all about creating a supportive, pressure-free space. I'm patient, easy-going, and encouraging, and I do love sharing alternative words and phrases so you can sound more natural and professional. My lessons are relaxed and light-hearted — expect games, jokes, real-life practice, friendly corrections, and plenty of laughs!
Many students say they feel much more confident and comfortable speaking after just a few lessons with me. My goal is simple: help you make real progress while actually having fun along the way! 🎉

I really enjoyed my lesson with Knives. We had a great conversation, and I got a lot of speaking practice, which is exactly what I was looking for.
Knives listened to me very carefully and was genuinely engaged. He also shared his own thoughts in a very interesting way, so the lesson never felt boring or forced.
The whole session felt more like a friendly conversation than a formal lesson, which made it easy to relax and speak more freely.
Also, I was his very first student on italki, which felt especially cool and kind of an honor :)
