It has been 3 weeks since I’ve started learning Mandarin with Pei in anticipation for my trip to Taiwan. I truly could not have chosen a better teacher! Pei is extremely kind, encouraging, and patient! After gauging my level and discussing my goals during the trial lesson, she was able to immediately provide me with the perfect learning plan based on my needs; and it has been going flawlessly! I am progressing quickly, and feel that I have built up the confidence I’ll need to communicate with ease during my trip. One thing I love about Pei’s lessons is how immersive they are. She always encourages me to use Mandarin wherever possible, even if I happen to say something in passing that’s unrelated to the lesson. That way, the language rolls off my tongue more naturally. She also teaches me everyday vocab & phrases used in Taiwan that aren’t found in textbooks, which I love! I can't recommend Pei enough!

Pei Lao Shi is a fantastic teacher who tailored the lesson to my interests and goals with learning Chinese. One of my goals is to practice reading, so she prepared slides and articles about topics that I'm interested in so that I could practice both reading and speaking about the topic. Lessons are tailored well to my level of understanding and to the topics that I am interested in.

Today was my second lesson with Pei, and she continues to be great! I'm looking forward to more lessons next week.

Excellent lesson with Pei Laoshi! We covered Taiwanese Hokkien’s tone sandhi and Pei explained it very clearly, despite it being somewhat complex! To this end, she created a tone sandhi diagram to help with my understanding, which was much better than anything I found on the internet (including AI). Lots of fun learning different food-related adjectives, too! Thank you, Pei!

I feel grateful for my lessons with Pei because I'm learning best through conversations & I'm just not on the level of randomly chatting in Taiwanese Hokkien yet, so I need a lot of patience & creative interpretation skills from my teacher 🤭🤭 I feel that Pei is great at finding the path between proper corrections/ explanations & motivating/ fun activities & the time passes super quickly 🙀😻

Pei is great! This was only my first lesson with her, but I feel like she genuinely cares about my goals and my learning. I especially appreciate how patient she is. She doesn't mind speaking slowly and repeating things. She also writes down all the new words so I can review them later. I’m really looking forward to our next lesson!
