Ryan Choi

Ryan is an awesome teacher! I am an advanced Cantonese speaker, and upon meeting him, he quickly adapted his pedagogy to my needs. He asks many questions, allowing me to speak as much as possible, and corrects and interjects just the right amount, so as to not overwhelm me with too much information. Furthermore, he speaks great English (and Mandarin), so he can quickly translate or explain a concept if necessary. I have had many language teachers in my life, and can honestly say that he is one of the better ones!

上個禮拜因為有些事情沒能上課，所以我們今天才上。今天我們學了第11課，也就是中篇裡的第一課。從此開始，每一篇課文就會愈來愈難、會愈來愈長，而且生詞也會愈來愈多。不過現在打好了基礎，我就比較有信心了。謝謝老師。我會認真預習第12課。

Ryan does well balancing/practicing conversation, theoretical, and readings! Would recommend trying out a few classes with him!

One the main reasons why I chose Ryan Choi as my Cantonese teacher and accent coach is because he has received extensive and thorough training with regards to Chinese Language and Literature including Mandarin and Cantonese. He's very respectful, open-minded, professional, and mindful, but also very strict (in a good way), and also very well-organized. If you're looking for a Cantonese teacher who's both knowledgeable and has a very international outlook, you should definitely book a class with Ryan Choi. Can't wait for my next class with him!!!! 😄😄😄

I really enjoyed my first lesson with Ryan. He quickly assessed my language levels and needs and found the appropriate materials + curriculum to help me. I was really impressed with how quickly we were able to identify a plan that worked for me. I also loved how Ryan introduced me to new terms or more modern ways of saying things that came up naturally during conversation.
