Miho

I’ve been taking lessons with みほ先生 for 1 year now. Even though we only meet once a week I feel much more comfortable talking and reading! She genuinely cares about her students and makes the classroom a comfortable place for learning. I even had a few unexpected medical emergencies this year and she was so flexible about rescheduling last minute. I also like the books she uses for early level Japanese. The lessons are very practical versus other text books. I think this has helped me be more functionally competent when I visit Japan. Overall I highly recommend みほ先生! So happy I found her :3

Learning a language while holding down a hectic job when you are on the wrong side of 50 is tough, and requires multiple resources and lots of patience. Perhaps the most important resource is a teacher who can help you maximise the impact of what you learn by focusing on practical vocabulary and grammar that suit your particular goals, and constantly keeps the difficulty level just a bit higher than your comfort level. Miho-san is precisely that kind of teacher. Bonus: She's super nice and a genuinely interested conversationalist!

When I started learning with Miho-san, I had been self-studying kanji and vocabulary for about a year, but was having trouble learning and retaining grammar structures. Miho-san has helped a ton, providing structured grammar lessons and lots of opportunities to practice them in conversation. She’s a very patient and easygoing teacher, which helps me feel less self-conscious while speaking, and less afraid of making mistakes. I’d recommend Miho-san to anyone and am looking forward to working with her more in the future.

Being a beginner can be stressful because there are so many new things I don't understand yet. But Miho Sensei is so patient and kind that I feel more confident and eager to speak. I like the pace of the lessons and the variety of exercises we do.
