Hi! I’m Sophie, a Goethe-certified German teacher from Austria and a passionate language lover. After completing my Master’s in English and Spanish, I taught in schools before earning my DaF certificate. I’ve now been teaching German both online and in schools for over a year, and I absolutely love helping students gain confidence and express themselves freely.
I’m based in London and have also lived in Spain and the US, so I understand the joys & challenges of moving abroad. In my free time, I enjoy reading, knitting, spending time outdoors, and travelling.

I love meeting people from all around the world, and I think that reflects in my teaching style. I enjoy getting to know my students and creating a space where they feel comfortable speaking, because I believe language learning works best when it’s personal and encouraging.
At the same time, I’m very structured and goal-oriented — I’ll help you tackle tricky grammar points, expand your vocabulary, and build confidence step by step.

I offer three types of classes: structured lessons, conversation practice, and kids' sessions - all designed to help you speak with confidence, learn efficiently, and stay motivated.
For structured lessons, I’ve created over 120 PowerPoints covering grammar, vocabulary, and real-life topics step by step. For conversation and kids' classes, I use custom materials to keep things engaging.
You’ll always get to speak a lot, receive helpful feedback via chat (without interrupting you speak), and have the option of homework. Sophie is an amazing teacher! If you want to learn or improve your German - look no further! Lessons with Sophie offer the best of both worlds: ability to practice German with the native speaker plus meticulously organized classes. She is always well prepared for each lesson and has amazing supplemental materials. But despite having structured materials, Sophie is very flexible and willing to tailor each class to a specific student needs. Sophie's ability to explain complex concepts in English and/or Spanish is also very helpful. Most importantly, Sophie makes you feel so comfortable and heard during the classes that learning a new language becomes enjoyable rather than a boring and demanding task. I have a few lessons with Sophie now and can confidently say that she is a great teacher. She is always prepared and organized in her lessons, which is super helpful. She is also very patient with me and encouraging. I appreciate that she speaks to me in German as much as possible, adjusting her speech so I can understand. Would definitely recommend !
