Ciao! I'm a professional teacher with a passion for the Italian language and culture. Born near Milan and raised near Venice, I have a degree in 'Foreign Languages and Literatures' (University of Padova) and a Master in 'Teaching Italian Language and Culture to Foreigners' (University of Venice).
I worked in tourism and travelled around the world, absorbing stories and experiences that I now bring into my lessons. I love helping students discover not only the language, but also the great culture of Italy: from films to dialects, from books to contemporary Italian events, history, customs, politics.

I am a professional but very relaxed person. Learning must be a positive process, without anxiety, fear, boredom. I adopt a communicative approach, without dismissing the importance of focusing on many aspects of the language.
I like to talk to my advanced students about contemporary Italian events, history, customs, dialects and the use of language. We talk about books, films, songs, travels and art.
My travel experience and the knowledge of people of all nationalities have helped me a lot in teaching languages because I have developed empathy and listening skills to meet the needs of my students.

I think learning a language should be fun and engaging so I use a combination of skills and personalize my lessons according to my students' needs and goals.
I establish a good connection with my students: I understand their needs and I make them feel comfortable during classes.
We will speak Italian from the very first lesson, and we will improve your vocabulary, pronunciation and grammar.
If you are at an intermediate or advanced level, we will also work on communication, reading articles, watching video, and anything regarding Italian life.
If you want to cancel a class, remember to do it 24 hours before, otherwise you will have to pay for it.

Elena is a highly competent teacher and at the same time a very nice person, full of warmth and empathy. She has long experience in teaching.This allows her to react flexibly to the needs of her students. Our lessons are variable: conversation, grammar exercises etc..
The use of authentic materials ( for example newspaper articles, youtube links, music) is very helpfull to learn new vocabulary in real-life contexts. I have made great progress in speaking fluently.
I recommend Elena to everyone who wants to learn the italian linguage and to have insights to the italian culture.

Elena is an excellent and highly-experienced language teacher: she is warm, encouraging, and explains points of grammar clearly. I always feel comfortable speaking in our conversation lessons. Elena is also an insightful and knowledgeable guide to Italian culture. I have learned much from her about Italian history, etiquette, customs, dialects, and language use; we have also discussed classic and contemporary films, poetry, art, and contemporary events. Our lessons are always a rich experience for me.

Elena is a fantastic teacher! I have had both structured lessons and informal conversation with Elena. I feel very comfortable with her and not intimidated to speak. She is an experienced professional teacher, with a solid knowledge of grammar and teaching skills. Elena helps me improve my pronunciation. She has a sense of humor, is patient and is also interesting. She frequently explains common uses of words and phrases, not just formal language. She has provided interesting articles to discuss on Italian culture and the arts. At times, I write short "stories" about my life and experiences which Elena will correct with me. I have done homework assignments either with worksheets she provides or with a book I already have. Elena is extremely flexible to my learning goals. You will have fun and improve when studying Italian with Elena!
