I've studied with Sumire 先生 for more than a year, and I can confidently say that my Japanese has improved quite a bit. Thanks to Sumire 先生, I've been able to understand the different nuances of many similar Japanese expressions, always a good indicator of an effective teacher in my opinion. Additionally, the textbook that she recommended, Marugoto is more useful for daily communication when compared to Tobira.

Sumire-san was wonderful! She was constantly typing phrases during our chat and added a summary for that lesson! She was able to match her Japanese to an appropriate speed and level to make understanding really easy for me. 100% would recommend.

My first trial lesson was a lot to take in, but goodness was it wonderful! Just speaking in Japanese and getting familiar with what I'm listening to from almost 10 years worth of space between when I last studied the language was intense, made me super nervous, but it was so much fun! My brain feels so alive and it's wonderful! Sumire-sensei is very easy to understand, and her simple Japanese for me to understand what we are talking about is wonderful! I can't wait for future lessons and I'm so grateful to get back into learning a beautiful language! ありがとうございます！
