Thanks to lessons with Jamie over the past 6 months, I landed in Seoul able to hold basic conversations. She has thoughtfully designed a curriculum that can teach anyone starting from absolutely no knowledge of Korean. On top of that, she is really adept at adapting to your level. I had learned some basics prior to my lessons with her, and she quickly identified what I already knew and moved past it, focusing our limited time on what I needed most. She does a great job of balancing teaching you new material and having you practice in fun and engaging ways. We would play a version of a Korean drinking game to practice counting, or look up grocery prices to practice with larger numbers. My sessions were consistently challenging, but in a very satisfying way, where I was consistently stretching and improving my abilities. My trip to South Korea was a great experience, and her lessons were a big part of that. I look forward to continuing to learn Korean with Jamie!

There are many different types of language teachers online these days, but from my experience, if you were to roughly categorize them into two main groups, there is one that's good for simply enjoying and practicing casual conversations and, the other that really influences your learning experience. Jamie is the latter. While she is also a great conversationalist, her dedication to help you speak more naturally and correctly in Korean is second to none. She also employs various approaches to her lessons, so you get to work on your Korean from different angles over time. If you are serious about improving your Korean and want to spend your time and money productively to that end, I'm certain that she is one of the best choices you can make. I'm always grateful that I've found her in my Korean learning journey.

Never underestimate what simple activities can do. What appeared to be a basic-looking translation homework turned out to be surprisingly useful! At first, I honestly thought that the homework would be too basic for my level, but I soon realised that the challenge was not the translation itself, but in the choice of words and sentence endings as they depended heavily on whom the listener is. It was a good reminder that even seemingly simple tasks can reveal gaps in a student's understanding. Thank you for designing an activity that challenged me in ways I didn’t expect! Could we do another one like this again? 😅😁

Yet another productive and enjoyable lesson today! Teacher Jamie was incredibly thorough in checking my understanding and asking thoughtful questions to ensure I fully grasped the concepts before moving on. I’ve gained a clearer understanding of the materials studied and left feeling much more confident in applying what I’ve learned in class. And she’s also very encouraging with her feedback - Getting praised made me feel supported and motivated to do better! 😄 Thank you and looking forward to our next lesson! :)

오늘도 재밌는 수업이었어요! 오늘 선생님께서 좀 피곤해 보이셨는데도 끝까지 열심히 가르쳐 주셔서 감사합니다.🥹 심지어 제가 전에 말씀해 주셨던 부분들을 계속 실수를 해도 선생님께서 항상 인내심을 가지고 친절하게 알려 주셔서 정말 감사합니다!ㅠ 선생님께서 항상 최선을 다해 가르쳐 주시는 게 느껴져서 저도 더 열심히 해야겠다는 생각이 들었어요! 다음 연습에서는 꼭 같은 실수를 하지 않도록 더 신경 써서 이야기해 볼게요! 오늘 푹 쉬시고 다음 수업에 또 뵐게요 :)

I absolutely LOVED my trial lesson! She was very helpful and patient with me! 10/10 would recommend to any adults starting their Korean lesson journey!
