Carmen

Great lesson with Carmen! Carmen told me about having a fever. We also talked about morning exercise and other ways that school is different in China vs. the USA. We learned some new vocabulary words and reviewed the sentences from the lesson. Carmen's class is fun and I am able to understand more and more!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about a dinner that Carmen went to. Carmen also told me about Cantonese music and singers. We talked about different funeral cultures in China and the US. At the end of the lesson, we reviewed the sentences and practiced pronunciation. Carmen noticed my pronunciation getting better, which is very motivating. It was a fun lesson and nice learning with Carmen!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about wisdom teeth being pulled, since it is something we both experienced. I learned a lot of new vocabulary. We also talked about moving our lips when we talk. I am able to understand a lot of what Carmen says and/or writes. Repeating the sentences at the end of class really helps, since pronunciation is so important. Carmen is really helpful and positive!

Great lesson with Carmen! Carmen talked about the dry season and getting sick in South China. We also talked about the recent building fire in Hong Kong, which Carmen said is in all the news. We also learned a bit about what foods cause internal heat and which can reduce internal heat. We repeated the sentences at the end of the lesson, as we usually do, so that Carmen can check my pronunciation. It was fun learning about customs and culture with Carmen!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about part-time college jobs and sour fruit/vegetables. Carmen told me about a cooking mishap. I'm getting more familiar and am able to read much more without pinyin. Carmen has been helping me build a strong foundation and she noticed my pronunciation is improving, thanks Carmen!

Great lesson with Carmen! We talked about moving house, and Carmen talked about her cat having some problems recently. We learned a lot of new vocabulary and also talked about fried rice. It was a fun lesson. I like the way Carmen starts with listening skills then finishes with speaking skills, because both skills are very important. Carmen's lessons are effective at helping me improve!
