Laurent Gu

It was my first Chinese lesson ever. I had something prepared so I would have something to say in Chinese. Laurent was very patient with me. He corrected my pronunciation, tonality, vocabulary and sentence structure. He also speaks fluent English and can explain things clearly in English as needed. I found a long term Chinese teacher.

I really enjoyed the lesson. Conversations with Laurent are always very comfortable. He writes notes during the lesson, that are very helpful for later review. The whole sentences are the most useful, because after lesson I can still remember how to use new words and in which context I’ve heard them. Besides that, the quality of sound is really good, that is particularly important for conversation classes, and I had no problems to understand what he says.

Great lesson! I was starting from absolute 0, and Laurent was very well prepared with helpful powerpoints and explanations. We started with pronunciation, classroom phrases, Pinyin basics, and some vocabulary/sentence structure basics. As someone who speaks no Mandarin, I was happy to get my feet wet in a comfortable and informative environment. Looking forward to next time! ^^/

Laurent is a fantastic tutor and conversation partner. Learning on my own has helped me build some basic understanding but I’ve been lacking real world conversation and listening practice. I feel like I learned more in 30 minutes with Laurent than I have in the past 2 weeks. He is very relaxed and clearly explained things, even when I’d confuse myself with similar sounding words. I’ll definitely be booking more sessions.

Amazing lesson as always!

Laurent is an excellent tutor. I've studied Chinese for 8+ years and have decent comprehension, but my speaking skills have almost disappeared. Laurent is able to facilitate natural conversation at an optimal level. Also knows when to jump in make an important correction versus letting it go to keep the conversation flowing. He's patient, friendly, and overall just easy to talk to. Highly recommend!
