After Alberto evaluated my pronunciation, he provided me with materials, patiently and professionally corrected my accent, and offered assignments for the following lessons. The assignments were challenging because I had never spoken like a native English speaker. Most of the time, I just read a sentence without emotion. I gradually sensed and understood the correct stress, the difference in intonation, how to link, and the importance of meaning and phrases rather than just words. I needed to learn to speak like a native speaker for each assignment, listen to my recordings repeatedly, and self-correct, making me more aware of my problems. Alberto will evaluate and provide instructive comments on my assignments. I am getting to the point where I don't hate hearing myself speak English so much. This has given me comfort and confidence in using English for career development and interpersonal communication. Thanks to Alberto! He is a patient, inspiring, and professional teacher!

Today’s class is my 20th with Alberto. He is like an iceberg. All I have learn is a small part of him, like the small peak of an iceberg above the water. When he compared the different vowels of father and saw, I was deeply shocked. I truly believe that someday I could not only speak standard American English, but also mock different accents across that nation. Salute to Alberto!

Alberto is a great teacher for pronunciation. I have taken several lessons from him. He is perceptive. He won't just tell you don't sound like a native speaker. He can tell you which exact sound in a word that does not sound right, and whether you miss a stress or linking. The immediate, direct, specific feedback helps me a lot. Alberto emphasizes the acting component in the practice and hence the Hollywood style. Over a couple lessons with Alberto I realize speaking second language is actually ACTING, and there's nothing wrong, and can be helpful, to enjoy the acting experience, in case acting put you really off. Alberto's feedback is balanced. He won't push you to the brink of frustration and can move on instead of demanding instant change. He also won't just give no negative feedback that you don't know where to pay attention and improve. You may prefer one or the other extreme but the balanced feedback works well for me.
