I was born in an English-speaking country (Zambia) and brought up in a bilingual family because my father spoke English and my mother Spanish. I've lived in Spain and in two English-speaking countries (Zambia and South Africa). I love travelling and I love learning languages. I speak French quite fluently and I've started learning Italian, therefore I also know what it's like to be a student of language learning.Ik als leerkracht
I started teaching English over 20 years ago in Spain. I began teaching kids but for the past 15 years I've been teaching English mainly to adults in companies. I enjoy teaching adults and I find it very rewarding to see how adults who had lost hope of ever speaking English, end up speaking it. In the past couple of years I've also taught Italians and French people and since I speak those languages, if my students need a quick explanation in their native tongue, I can give it to them.Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven
My students say that my lessons are fun and entertaining. Adults, as well as children, must find lessons entertaining so as to be interested in learning, which is the first step in learning faster. That's why I make the lessons fun and do several activities during the lesson so that it doesn't drag. My students also mention how quick time goes by in my lessons.
Since I've been teaching for so long, I also know why students make certain mistakes and warn them beforehand.
Beginners do speaking activities and drills to practice the new structures; and with advanced students, I plan part of the following lesson with drills to correct mistakes they've made in the speaking activities.Mijn lesmateriaal

Ana is the definition of what I consider the perfect teacher. She is kind, she listens to you and she makes you aware of everything you need to feel safe and comfortable to learn. Your mistakes and errors are embraced as part of the process (she is very gentle) while your successful results are celebrated, and she helps you reach the expected results by guiding you, motivating you to try, and she takes into account your background, which I believe are very important aspects of teaching.
It was a great experience for me, a person who felt insecure about learning and searching for help, but who ended the class with the feeling that this is what I should've done before and feeling lucky about meeting Ana. Thanks, dear! You're amazing! ;)
