Hello! I'm Benjamin, a TEFL-certified English teacher originally from Oregon, USA, and now based in Medellín, Colombia. With more than 10 years of experience, I focus on natural conversation practice with adults, as well as engaging, interactive lessons for kids.
My own travels to over 20 countries, including several years living in places like Chiang Mai, Thailand, have shown me how much language can open doors and bring people together. When I'm not teaching, you'll probably find me spending time with my family, writing short fiction, making music, and practicing yoga, among other activities.

After obtaining TEFL Certification from the Language Institute at Chiang Mai University I taught classes at Pro Language Chiang Mai in 2008. I was there until returning home from Thailand in February of 2009. Since then I have done private English tutoring in Thailand, Mexico, and United States.
More recently, I taught English conversation and grammar lessons to students enrolled in Tutlo Online English School, in Poland, from 2020 to 2022.
Presently, I have been proudly teaching here on italki for six years, engaging with over a thousand students for more than 6000 hours of lessons! My years of teaching have taught me to become an expert conversationalist and I am proud of my skills! Mijn lessen en manier van lesgeven

I took the "Let's Chat!" lessons with Ben to help me prepare for the IELTS exam and improve my conversational English. Ben is a fantastic teacher who can chat about anything, from deep philosophical questions to video games and everyday life. The lessons were always super comfortable and fun.

Ben is a fun and creative teacher! I’ve been taking his lessons for about six months, and he encourages me to talk about a wide range of topics, from video games to current political issues. Even when it’s hard for me to express myself on my own, he asks the right questions to keep the conversation going. The 30 minutes always fly by, and I learn something new every time. I highly recommend his lessen to anyone who wants to practice speaking while having fun in conversation!
