Fantastic! Chị Thanh is a wonderful instructor. She is very prepared and provides helpful examples and context for what you are learning. She will make sure your pronunciation is spot-on to ensure success in Vietnamese. Most importantly, the lessons are fun!!I would highly recommend.

As an overseas Vietnamese (Viet Kieu) I've been trying to reconnect with my family heritage and culture by learning Vietnamese for the past few years. I've taken group beginners classes in the past and only recently started having 1:1 lessons on iTalki. Thanh is easily one of the best language teachers I've ever had (and I've had lessons for French too)! Chị Thanh's lessons are suited to your needs which was really important for me as someone with a basic understanding of Vietnamese but did not want to keep going over beginners content again. Chị Thanh is always very encouraging and makes lessons fun and engaging - this helped me a lot because I worry about making mistakes with pronunciation. I always come out of the lesson feeling like I've learned so much and am closer to reaching my language learning goals (being able to speak confidently to my family in Vietnam). This was a nice lesson today. We learned some new materials and words. And also I learned a little bit about Vietnamese media.

So far I've taken several lessons with Thanh. She is a teacher that takes a very hands-on approach to ensure you get the Vietnamese tonal system (southern accent), with a deep emphasis on the mechanics on how your mouth and/or tongue should be positioned in relation with certain vowels. Thanh has been not only an educator but she is also a great encourager. Thanh has helped me improve my pronunciation and sometimes has enough flexibility to pivot the lesson plan to what I'm learning through outside material. Furthermore, she has demonstrated flexibility in her lesson plans to not only include vocabulary but also culture, cuisine, ethnicities, history, the nuances between the Vietnamese dialects, and much more. Even though I'm still a beginner, I'm confident that she will help me progress further with the language. Cảm ơn em.
