I've been learning with Chris for 2 years & just had my last session with him before I go to Vietnam. I'm now confident I'm going to do fine. Chris did a great job keeping me motivated, keeping me accountable & helped by explaining things clearly. He kept things fun & caring as a teacher with such a human & friendly approach. And he's always willing to try new things & think outside-of-the-box so things never get boring & he has a good sense of humour. I'm a lazy learner, I'll admit that, but I've probably hit around B1/B2 with him (untested). He's given great travel advice & support too, with ideas & suggestions for the kinds of things I like. And we have great conversations both in English & Vietnamese. With Chris, you don't just gain a tutor, but a friend who'll do his best to help you every step of the way.

Always enjoy my Vietnamese lessons with Chris (Em Nguyên). I like that Chris is very flexible with lesson format and that he is always pushing me to use more and more Vietnamese in our lessons. Chris is very helpful and patient with his students. He is fun and keeps the class interesting while giving well thought out structured lessons. I improved a lot with him in a short period of time.

Chris is a great teacher! My Vietnamese has significantly improved since I started learning with him. He is knowledgeable and does research when he's not sure about the answers to my questions. He is dedicated and it's clear that he loves to teach. Thanks a lot Chris!

I've been learning with Chris for a few months now. I know many Vietnamese words and tones and local people have said that my pronunciation is ok. After working with Chris my pronunciation is at a whole new level. He taught me how to analyse a word, how to break it down and how to prepare the mouth shape to deliver the word so much better than before. Now when I read a word I 'know' how it should sound before I speak it. Thanks Chris for spending so much time ensuring I have a solid foundation.

Just had another lesson with Chris, I can't express how much I like learning with him. I have my off days and he can see that I'm struggling or getting frustrated but he does not give up. He will walk me through the steps to figure it out. We have had multiple classes at this point and is more than just a teacher, I would consider him a great friend as well and can't wait to meet up on my next trip to Vietnam. I cant say enough good things about Chris and look forward to our next class.
